FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) — For those who think they might not be able to buy a home in the current economy, you might be able to afford one now.
The prices of homes are on the rise in Fresno County, California, up 45% in just the last four years, according to Keri Bennitt, the vice president of marketing with Noble Credit Union.
We know that interest rates have gone up, and we know that the number of houses on the market has gone down, making home ownership not only more difficult but also more difficult to afford,"
PHILIPSBURG/CENTRE COUNTY, Pa — The Centre County YMCA held a number of Free Milk Saturday drives in Centre County Saturday morning. They were preceded by their food distribution event that they do biweekly on Saturdays.
The giveaways began at the Moshannon Valley Enterprise Center in Philipsburg, and they gave away jugs of milk at several locations in the area, including a number of fire halls in Philipsburg.
Mel Curtis, the Director of Anti-Hunger Programs at the Centre County YMCA, says as time goes on, each distribution has been getting busier.
According to officials at Greater Johnstown there has been just one resource officer in the district with four buildings. They said Greater Johnstown Elementary last having a resource officer in October 2022 and the high school has not had one since November.
These four officers will be employees of the school district according to officials rather than before having resource officers with the Johnstown Police Department at the schools.
The officers will be paid for out of the school’s general fund and officials said it will be able to be sustained.
Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Ideal Market in Johnstown closed earlier this summer, leaving the downtown area without a grocery store, but city officials say replacing the store is a top priority.
6 News spoke with city officials about how they say they are taking steps toward bringing a grocery store back to the downtown area.
Officials say the new store will not be an Ideal Market but say they're looking to replace the business as quickly as possible.

Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — State police in Ebensburg are investigating a recent string of burglaries at the Mainline Pharmacy location in Hastings, according to a post from Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers.
Authorities say the first burglary occurred on the morning of June 7th, and that an unknown male entered the pharmacy, by smashing through a glass door, and stole various medications.
On June 25, police say an unidentified male was observed outside the pharmacy prior to smashing the glass door.
Punxsutawney's Home for the Holidays Parade and Fireworks will be held on Saturday, November 24th.
There will be a nighttime parade welcoming Santa to town,followed by the Rotary Club lighting the community Christmas tree and the Circle of Trees in Barclay Square. The parade begins at 6 p.m., fireworks are to follow at approximately 7 p.m. with Light Up Night rounding out the evening beginning at about 7:15 p.m. The parade travels through downtown Punxsutawney on Mahoning Street.
Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — The Everett Railroad Company, located in Hollidaysburg, opened it’s annual Santa Train excursions Friday. The train rides offer an early opportunity for families to get in the holiday spirit plus, kids will get a personal visit from Santa. The workers at the railroad spent several weeks preparing for the excursions, and they say that they’re just as excited for the rides to start as the community it.
TYRONE, Pa. (WJAC) — An annual tradition in Tyrone is to march for the life of an dead baby girl found over 30 years ago. This Sunday, they'll do that again.
6 News spoke with those involved in the march and about the legacy she leaves.
February 1987 in Antis Township, a baby girl is found dead in a plastic bag, next to a dumpster.
Over three decades later, nobody knows her name or who she is — even after DNA testing.
ALTOONA - A water line break along North 4th Street in Altoona is affecting dozens of customers. A release from the Altoona Water Authority said crews were repairing a line behind Holy Rosary Church Tuesday afternoon when a water line broke. Officials said that two dozen homes in the area will be without water for several hours. A Boil Water Advisory is in effect until further notice for the affected area.
