Coroner releases how two men died after they were found at Wilmore Dam

WILMORE, Pa. (WJAC) — Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees provided an update Tuesday after two men were found floating in the Wilmore Dam by a group of kayakers June 9. Lees identified the two men June 10 as 78-year-old Francis Frear and 68-year-old Dennis Livingston from Mineral Point. According to Lees, the two men were good friends and were fishing from a boat when Frear suffered from a cardiac event and fell into the water which was about 30 feet deep.

Golden Knights trade Reilly Smith to the Penguins

The Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights are already preparing to try to repeat, trading a longtime franchise cornerstone and keeping their best trade deadline pickup. Vegas traded Reilly Smith to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday and re-signed fellow forward Ivan Barbashev to a five-year contract worth $25 million. The moves came hours before the start of NHL draft. “We think this will give us the ability to pretty much return our team in whole, so that was our objective,” general manager Kelly McCrimmon said in Nashville, Tennessee, before the draft began.

The new antlerless license process in Pennsylvania launched Monday morning, but the Somerset County Treasurer called it an “epic failure”. Many looking to buy their licenses online reported extremely long wait times. Would-be hunters took to 6 News’ Facebook page to share screen shots of their virtual place in line -- some showing more than 100,000 customers ahead of them. Somerset County’s treasurer Tony DeLuca voiced frustrations over how the game commission rolled out the new system.

New restaurant set to open in downtown Johnstown

Local school receives donation of snacks after winning contest

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — A school in Somerset County is getting a huge food donation. Last week, more than seven thousand granola bars were delivered by Junkless Foods to Windber Middle School. One teacher we spoke with says she came across a Facebook post to fill out a from asking what you would do with seven thousand granola bars. A few days later, the school got an email saying they won the contest.

State witnesses challenge defense's expert testimony

WASHINGTON (TND) — The prosecution in Alex Murdaugh's double murder trial called six witnesses to the stand Tuesday in its rebuttal of the defense's case as the trial stretched into its 26th day. The witnesses included pathologist Ellen Reimer, as well as former law partners and friends of Murdaugh, who are now poking holes in the defense's case that Murdaugh could not have murdered his wife, Maggie and son, Paul. In her testimony, Reimer unequivocally reiterated that Paul did not suffer a contact gunshot to the head, contrary to expert testimony for the defense.

Trans student exposed girls to male genitalia in school locker room, legal group claims

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (CITC) — The Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL) is demanding answers and action in a letter to a Wisconsin school district, arguing it failed to appropriately address an incident where a transgender-identifying student who is biologically male showered in the girls' locker room alongside four freshman girls, exposing them to male genitalia. The incident allegedly took place on March 3 when four freshman girls from Sun Prairie East High School (EHS) went to use the girls' locker room following a physical education class.
