Bedford County, PA (WJAC) — State police in Bedford County say a Fishertown man is behind bars after he was accused of assaulting multiple troopers who were trying to prevent him from harming himself. According to the affidavit, troopers were dispatched to a residence in East St. Clair Township, on the morning of July 4th, after receiving a report that 34-year-old Joseph Gorsuch was attempting to harm himself. Investigators say the troopers arrived at the home and witnessed Gorsuch reportedly harming himself with a knife.

Man charged in 'gruesome' South Fork homicide to head to trial

Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — A South Fork man accused of "brutally" killing a 55-year-old man earlier this year will soon head to trial. Austin Kline appeared in Cambria County court on Tuesday, via video conference, for his formal arraignment. Authorities say Kline faces several charges, including criminal homicide and abuse of a corpse, in the death of Richard Morgan. Police allege that Kline shot Morgan inside his South Fork home and then reportedly struck him with a landscaping tool.

Rockwood unveils new Veterans Memorial and Community Park after eight-year effort

Altoona water authority & Logan Twp. reach new agreement

ALTOONA, Pa (WJAC) — The Logan Township board of supervisors and the Altoona water authority announced on Thursday that both agencies are working on an agreement that will allow the water authority to have complete control over the township's wastewater collection. Officials say the township currently releases water to the authority treatment system through long-standing agreements. They say there will be several benefits to this change including stabilized sewer rates and better customer service.

Seven Years Behind Bars

ALTOONA, Pa — A 20-year murder case is resurfacing after Kenneth Leighty has served almost seven years behind bars for the murder of Sherry Leighty. In 2013, 14 years after Sherry Leighty disappeared, her father-in-law confessed to killing her. Kenneth Leighty was sentenced seven to 14 years after being charged with homicide. Sherry Leighty was 23 years old at the time she disappeared. She would be celebrating her 43 birthday this month.
