HUNTINGDON CO, Pa (WJAC) — Officials with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission are warning boaters and anglers to be on the lookout for invasive Zebra Mussels that were recently found at Raystown Lake in Huntingdon County.
"Adult Zebra Mussels can attach to surfaces and can be spread easily between waters if they become attached to boats or fishing gear," said Sean Hartzell, PFBC Aquatic Invasive Species Coordinator. "The microscopic larvae of the Zebra Mussel can also be spread through undrained water transported on boats or gear.
VALENCIA, Pa. (AP) — An animal hospital in Pennsylvania has been evacuated over a leaking X-ray machine.
A hazmat team responded to Twinbrook Animal Clinic, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) north of Pittsburgh, on Friday morning.
Crews say the leakage apparently filled a room with fumes and left one worker with a minor burn.
Officials told WPXI-TV that the substance isn't radioactive.
Hazmat crews are ventilating the building. No information has been released about what the substance might be.

In Centre County, unlike many neighboring counties, the population has been increasing, but during a hearing in Harrisburg Wednesday, experts confirm the state's population, especially in rural counties is on the decline.

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WSET) — The former executive director of the Economic Development Authority of Front Royal and Warren County (EDA), who was convicted in November of last year of stealing more than $5.2 million in authority funds, was sentenced today to 14 years in federal prison.
Jennifer Rae McDonald, 45, of Front Royal, was convicted following a 9-week jury trial in November 2023 of seven counts of wire fraud, six counts of bank fraud, sixteen counts of money laundering, and one count of aggravated identity theft.

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (WJAR) — Several dogs the were recently rescued from a hoarding situation in a Rhode Island home have not survived.
The dogs captured the hearts of people across the state when they were rescued from a Pawtucket house last month. While the majority are now doing well, sadly, some couldn't be saved.
The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA) said about seven of the dogs have died across the various shelters helping them recover.
SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — State police are identifying Thursday's Somerset County drowning victim as a 13-year-old boy from Coraopolis in Allegheny County.
Crews were called to the Stonycreek River just before noon near Seanor Road for reports of the boy trapped underwater.
State police say the boy was on a guided river tubing trip through Coal Tubin' Adventures of Johnstown.
They report the child fell off the innertube and became trapped.
Bryan Hagerich of Somerset County is still detained in Turks and Caicos after 99 days.
Members of Congress are fighting for his return.
Senator John Fetterman says he’s feeling extremely optimistic after meeting with officials from Turks and Caicos this week. Meanwhile, friends of the Hagerich family say they’re nervously awaiting the sentencing.

DUBOIS - In two weeks, the DuBois Area School Board will make a final decision on whether or not to close three of its seven elementary schools.
The board has been discussing the possibility of closing Penfield, Sykesville and Luthersburg elementary schools for the 2017-18 school year since last year.
If the board would ultimately choose to close the three schools, Penfield students would be integrated between Oklahoma and Juniata elementary schools in DuBois; Sykesville students into C.
