30th Annual Bellefonte Cruise attracting hundreds of folks to town

BELLEFONTE – The 30th Annual Historic Bellefonte Cruise continued Saturday in Centre County.
Hundreds of people crowded the streets downtown to see the historic cars and motorcycles.
"I look for the older cars. I like Corvettes," resident Fred Zanghi said.
From Corvettes to motorcycles, antiques and even kids' cars, the Bellefonte cruise has almost every car imaginable.
"I think they're nice,. I want all of them," attendee Cheyenne Bookmiller said.
You could hear them coming from miles away; the engines roared as a parade of cars lined up for the car show.
"It's great. It's great for the community here. It’s good to know a lot of people are interested in old cars and (the) history of vehicles," Zanghi said.
What started as a small car show has now grown into one of the biggest events in Centre County. The show featured over 300 cars on display.
"The amount of cars -- I don’t think it was this many before," attendee Patricia Grainey said.
One resident has been here for all 30 years and has seen significant changes.
"When it first started it was less cars, less people, old cars. Now there's more modern cars, a lot more people," Zanghi said.
Zanghi said the event has become a family tradition since it started.
Hundreds of people from surrounding areas crowded the street to check out the cars.
Among the hundreds of cars, one man could be seen polishing his car.
“I don’t do this for the winning. It’s fun to come out and be with other folks,” car owner Chris Venezia said.
Venezia said it’s his first time bringing his 1968 electric blue Plymouth GTX to the show.
"It's a fun car to drive. It's got a lot of power," Venezia said.
Venezia said it’s tough keeping up his 50-year-old car but he loves being in car shows and sharing his vintage ride with the community.
"It's nice to see all the other people enjoying the car, because it's 50 years old," Venezia said.
Judges presented awards for over 30 different categories of cars on display.
The fun doesn’t end with the car show. The cruise picks back up Sunday around noon with the soap box races that you can enjoy.
