According to a Facebook post that has since been taken down, Houtzdale Fire Company wanted to extend their contract with Decatur Township. However, Decatur Township decided to sign a three-year contract with Columbia Volunteer Fire Company instead, sparking a social media dispute.

The original post also alluded to the possibility that Houtzdale Fire Company would not respond to certain emergencies in the area due to this contract change.
But, yesterday, Houtzdale Fire Company is apologizing for that post and clarifying they will assist on emergencies if they are called.
A Facebook post from the fire company's president, Jeffrey Arnold Jr., says "In the heat of the moment, our members felt disappointed and disrespected. Our leadership has come together and discussed the topic and there will be no lack of response by Houtzdale Fire Company because of this situation."
