Tragic river tubing accident claims the life of a 13-year-old boy in Somerset County

State police are identifying Thursday's Somerset County drowning victim as a 13-year-old boy from Coraopolis in Allegheny County.

Crews were called to the Stonycreek River just before noon near Seanor Road for reports of the boy trapped underwater.

State police say the boy was on a guided river tubing trip through Coal Tubin' Adventures of Johnstown.

They report the child fell off the innertube and became trapped.

He was pulled from the river by rescue teams and pronounced dead at the scene by the Somerset County coroner's office.
