Coroner ID's Cambria County man who drowned in Carrolltown pond

Authorities say a Cambria County man drowned early Monday morning in a pond in Carrolltown.

Crews were called just before 4 a.m.

The Cambria County Coroner's office says a dive team recovered 42-year-old Eric Bender just after 5 a.m.

Officials say that pond is about 10 feet deep.

They say Bender lived about 100 yards away from the water.

Lees says Bender was taken to Conemaugh Miners Medical Center Emergency Room and couldn’t be resuscitated.

His cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy and toxicology report.

The coroner's office and state police are investigating.

Emergency dispatchers say crews were called just before 4 a.m. to the 100 block of Dindios Street for a water rescue.
