Tyrone man accused of sexually assaulting intoxicated woman inside apartment

Authorities in Blair County have charged a Tyrone man after he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman over the weekend.

Police say on Sunday, officers were dispatched to Penn Highlands Tyrone for a report of an alleged sexual assault.

Authorities say the victim told police that she had reportedly been assaulted by 24-year-old Nicholas Riggleman while the two were "hanging out" early Sunday morning.

According to the affidavit, police say the victim admitted that she had been drinking prior to the alleged assault.

Police say she claimed that when she told Riggleman that she was drunk, he then reportedly led her to the bedroom of his apartment where he proceeded to "kiss her and take her clothes off."

Police say Riggleman is then accused of choking the victim while he raped her.

Authorities say the victim told officers that she did not say no to Riggleman because she was "afraid of what he might do."

According to online court records, Riggleman was arraigned Sunday evening on charges of rape, aggravated indecent assault and strangulation.

He was housed at the Blair County Prison but has since posted bail.
