Lowe's locations donating essential supplies to local first responders

One retail giant is giving back to local first responders across the region.

Lowe’s locations across the country are helping those on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic. Stores are donating supplies that are in high demand like cleaning supplies and gloves.

“Do it right for less:” A slogan Lowe’s locations across the company are taking to heart.

The company has donated over $170 million worth of supplies to first responders over the past month and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

“It’s been hand sanitizer disinfectant wipes, even cases of waters for the employees as the first responders to help them out. Just anything we can get in and help the first responders because they are the ones in the thick. So, fire companies, police departments, hospitals, some of the other labs. We’ve done a lot to try and spread it out as much as we can,” said Lowe’s Richland store manager, Jude Miko.

Even inside their own stores they’re seeing the small amount of cleaning supplies fly off the shelves.

“When it’s available for what we have for the customers it doesn’t last long. I mean once it’s there it’s gone,” sad Lowe’s Richland assistant store manager, Paul Rutledge.

Which is why now more than ever, first responders need these supplies to protect themselves.

“I mean they are the ones dealing to day to day individuals from patients in the hospital to people on the streets the homes that they’re going to help people. It’s very important that they have the protection that they need and the cleaning supplies that they can use to take care of their equipment and vehicles and everything that they use on a day to day basis,” said Rutledge.

Miko is happy the company can give continue to support the communities they are a part of.

“We feel we are a big player in the community so it’s nice for us to be able to do these donations to a lot of these local organizations that we have,” said Miko.

Lowe’s says they will continue to make these donations for the foreseeable future.
