81-year-old arrested for allegedly terrorizing neighbors with slingshot for over 10 years

AZUSA, Calif. (WKRC) - An elderly man was arrested after he allegedly terrorized his neighbors with a slingshot for over a decade.

Prince Raymond King, 81, of Azusa, California, was arrested on Thursday, with police referring to him as a "serial slingshot shooter." His decade-long mischief finally came to an end after he was forced to hang up his weapon.

According to the Azusa Police Department, King would use a slingshot and ball bearings to damage multiple properties across his neighborhood. He would even shoot close to people, almost hitting them.

“DEU conducted a lengthy investigation and learned that during the course of nine to 10 years, dozens of citizens were being victimized by a serial slingshot shooter,” said Azusa Police Department in a press release.

Police also noted that the previously unknown suspect “broke windows, windshields, and almost stuck people with ball bearings.”

The damages caused by the "serial slingshotter" ranged widely. Some people only received BB gun pellet-sized holes, while other people had their entire windows shattered. Luckily, throughout his reign of terror, no injuries were ever reported.

Police said they had been looking for the suspect since the very first attack over a decade ago. They just weren't able to fully identify him until now.

“It’s been ongoing for many years,” said the department. “Because we just didn’t identify who the suspect was.”

Earlier in May, a search of his residence was conducted and police found the weapon and a number of ball bearings. King was then arrested and booked into a nearby jail shortly after. He's being held on no bail.
